Terms of Service
Last updated July 16, 2026
1. Agreement
By using Vaniso ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.
2. What Vaniso is
Vaniso lets anyone create a temporary, disposable chat room ("summon"), share it with others via a code or link, and exchange messages and files inside it. Rooms and everything in them are automatically and permanently deleted after a short window, or immediately if the creator chooses to end ("Vanish") the room. No account is required to use the core Service.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your country to consent to use of online services without parental approval) to use Vaniso. The Service is not directed at children and we do not knowingly allow children under that age to use it.
4. Ephemeral by design
Rooms are temporary on purpose. When a room's countdown reaches zero, or its creator chooses to Vanish it, the room and everything inside it - messages, files, and the member list - is deleted permanently. There is no undo, no backup, and no way for us to recover it for you. Don't rely on Vaniso for anything you need to keep.
5. Encryption limits what we can see
Messages and files sent inside a room are encrypted in your browser before they're sent, with a key that is never given to our servers. In practice, this means we cannot read the content of your rooms, and we cannot proactively scan, filter, or moderate it - we technically don't have access to it.
This also means we can't restore lost content, verify what was said in a dispute, or hand over message contents to anyone, including law enforcement, because we don't have them. What we can do - and will do when required by law or a credible abuse report - is act on what we do have: room existence, timestamps, and the ability to delete a room entirely.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to use Vaniso to:
- Share, request, or facilitate child sexual abuse material or any other content illegal in the jurisdictions relevant to you or Vaniso.
- Harass, threaten, or abuse another person.
- Distribute malware or content infringing someone else's intellectual property rights.
- Attempt to break, bypass, or reverse-engineer the Service's access controls or encryption, including rooms you're not a member of.
- Use the Service to send unsolicited bulk messages or abuse its infrastructure (e.g. automated flooding of the summon or join endpoints).
7. Reporting abuse & enforcement
If you encounter abuse, email [email protected] with the room code, approximate time, and a description. Because of the encryption described above, we generally can't inspect a room's contents ourselves - the most effective remedy available to us is deleting the room. We may do this, suspend access, or take other action against a user at our discretion, without prior notice, for a suspected violation of these Terms.
8. Copyright complaints
If you believe content shared through Vaniso infringes your copyright, email [email protected] with a description of the work, the room code if known, and your contact information. As above, we typically can't verify the content directly and the practical remedy is deleting the room in question.
9. Accounts are optional
You can use Vaniso anonymously - no account, no email. Signing in (Google or a one-time emailed link) is optional and only extends how long your rooms last. If you sign in, an email address is collected for authentication; see our Privacy Policy.
10. No warranty
Vaniso is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any message or file will be successfully delivered before a room expires. Data loss from the ephemeral design isn't a bug - it's how the Service is meant to work.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Vaniso and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, including loss of data that was, by design, never meant to persist.
12. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service, or delete a room, at any time and for any reason, particularly to respond to a suspected violation of these Terms or applicable law.
13. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
14. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario.
